Carlos Almaraz is an inspiration... The voice of Luc Ferrari, unknowing... The sound of a guitar recorded in the summer of 1994, when you thought you'd be a yazzzcat is also an example.... the sound of your 9 year old offering you hand sanitizer after playing the instruments in the park... Negativland's film on a screen--so many things on a screen: you take pictures of the screen sometimes... Cage on the way music is no longer a language you formalize so that all can speak the same way, but the practice of opening yourself up to the change without necessity that is your existence... Bataille is in the background looking at the same thing after the death of god... Almaraz painted the crash that is the drive toward making it... Finnegans Wake is endless, like the sound of the whirling, expanding entropy we take as our ground... There is a plane falling from the sky and there's chirping all around it... And sometimes you can hear the void in the middle. Collage today does not have the same function it did in the 20th century, at least not here. The sound of a decomposing melancholy now attaches to it.
