about

Though there are separate tracks, Bateyes is a single piece that moves back and forth within a single set of materials. It is a way of dealing with the tension between the cyclical and the jagged as a way for the opening beyond the self (chance, the outside, the indeterminate--but also the cosmos within, the Other within). Imagine a twisted surface where inside and outside get tangled up. A future meditation on the presence of the past in the void that is the present. Nietzsche: "Those thinkers in whom all stars move in cyclical orbits are not the deepest; whoever looks within also knows how irregular galaxies are; they lead into the chaos and labyrinth of existence" (The Gay Science, sec. 322).

Ultimately, the fundamental work behind these recordings is to precariously ground unground existence in the doing. Peace. ... more
